I started playing chess before I could speak. My Eastern European roots instilled in me a mindset grounded in logic and resilience, and over two decades at the chessboard taught me discipline and sober rationality. Yet, running a chess school didn’t improve my patience. Instead, I was restless with the slow, linear pace of progress and felt hungry for new horizons, fueled by a passion for mountaineering that I cultivated at home in the Bavarian Alps.
With stability as a family value, I started out after school in an oversized pinstripe suit at the counter of a centuries-old bank before transitioning into corporate and investment banking. Working with clients whose businesses had endured decades, sometimes centuries, taught me what continuity and long-term value truly mean. I believe attitude and perseverance can carry you further than almost anything else.
During this period, I won my first hackathon (with a chess app of course!), immersed myself in technology, and became fascinated by legendary entrepreneurs. Taking “no” as just another step toward “yes” became second nature. Hundreds of cold emails later, I got opportunities to combine my passions for technology and business-building at large-scale private and growth equity firms as well as to advise them through due diligence consulting. During this time, I wanted to be as close as possible to founders which made me realise that going earlier in stage, and being able to invest and work alongside incredibly ambitious tech entrepreneurs was the challenge that would inspire me the most.
Uncovering these founders before anyone else and providing relentless support to them is what Blossom does best. Blossom’s “tough love” approach means having sometimes uncomfortable conversations about what matters while doing the hard work with the founders and maintaining deep respect for the day-to-day grind of building a company. We strive to be the best partner to founders by doing those few things that will have a real impact at series A, and doing them with exceptionally high standards of quality and speed. We are selective about the founders whom we join on their journey, which our highly concentrated model enables us to do, but once we’re in, we are ALL in - Blossom’s commitment that I thrive on.
